Fold Housing & Siel Bleu Ireland Partnership

Fold Housing & Wellbeing

Fold Housing provides independent living homes for older people, as well as Housing with Care centres for older adults with higher support needs and people living with dementia. Their mission is to provide good quality homes and support for people who need it, while working to improve the lives of residents through care, support and continued development of their services.

About Siel Bleu Ireland

Siel Bleu Ireland helps older adults and people living with chronic diseases stay active, healthy and independent through adapted physical activity programmes. Their sessions are safe, inclusive and enjoyable, and are designed to meet the needs of each person. The focus is on supporting mobility, confidence, strength and overall wellbeing, while also encouraging people to stay socially connected. The programme uses Adapted Physical Activity (APA), which means the exercises are adjusted to suit each person’s ability and needs. This ensures everyone can take part safely, no matter their level of mobility or health condition. APA focuses on helping people move in a way that works for them, supporting independence, reducing the risk of injury, and improving overall wellbeing.

Programme Overview & Schedule

This 28 week programme is funded by AXA Ireland and brings both organisations together to support older adults through weekly exercise sessions. It is a shared effort to improve wellbeing, independence and quality of life for residents in a simple and accessible way. The programme started the week of 19th May and runs once a week in two Fold Housing locations. Sessions take place in Hansfield every Monday from 10–11am, and in Anam Cara every Tuesday from 10–11am. Over the 28 weeks, residents take part in gentle adapted exercise designed to support movement, balance, strength and confidence.

Impact & Community Connection

Each session is delivered in a friendly and supportive setting, where participants are encouraged to go at their own pace. The aim is to help people stay active in a way that feels safe and enjoyable, while also giving them the chance to meet others and feel more connected in their community. This partnership between Fold Housing and Siel Bleu Ireland helps create regular opportunities for older adults to stay active, independent and socially engaged. It shows how simple, consistent movement can make a positive difference to both physical and mental wellbeing over time.
